I Went Thrifting!

It has been sometime since I have been thrifting I mean really thrifting, where I get to take my sweet time look around and around to look for some awesome finds, I can tell you this... it was so nice to visit some of my faves. I picked up a few things, allow me to show you just what I brought home~

This huge haul was from Goodwill I just love these storage bins, an older lady was eyeing them so I let her have 2 others and I brought home these 3, I also bought a bunch of stickers for my angels end of school gifts for classmates and I found a few items for the house too. I paid $23.00 for all of this!
This haul is from a church charity shop that I had not been in, in some time.  For some reason I am so into glass and when I see something I do not have I tend to pick it up, I also love to read so almost every trip to the thrift store I buy books.   I am a big reader and I would rather feel a book in my hand then to hold any devise to read, plus most books are cheap under $1.00 and I like that.  This cross candle holder I want to use to make a flower arrangement on.  Everything else I will use on future projects!!

Tell me what you have purchased lately that you did not have to spend a ton on!!

Thank You & Many Blessings~

Little Makeover & Paint Projects

What do you think of the color of my blog background?  I asked several seasoned bloggers for advise & one suggestion was for me to change the background color as they thought it was a bit difficult to see my pictures & text clearly so I went to work!!  Hope you like it, I sure do!

Paint Projects~
Now onto my paint projects~  We are on a break from the stairs for the time being. I needed to order a 1" router bit online because we were not able to find one in any of the big box stores, I did at least get to prime the risers.  So since we were on this break I decided to do a little painting on some items I felt needed some sprucing up.

Before~

 After~
I painted the brass giraffe a glossy black, he came out really cool now, I think I would like another.
I re-painted my quails a gold color because I just felt they needed to be gold, but I think I am gonna need to tone down the gold a bit, but they kind of remind me of my angels so I put them next to their picture on the coffee table.

Then I painted these vessels which are actually candles therefore they are all wax.  I thought they would be difficult to paint but I just needed to give them several coats before I got the desired coverage.

This poor little planter I have painted it so many times I just can not find the right color for this, I will live with  this for awhile maybe it will grow on me.

I am pretty happy with the turn out of each of these pieces.  What do you think?

Thank You & Many Blessings~

BUSY~BUSY! Stair Update step 2

I have not posted anything new since my husband & I have worked late into the evening on our stairs & I have been very tired, just so tired to even turn the computer on.  I am hoping I will have some pictures and a longer post next time!  I must tell you I have enjoyed working side by side with my husband on this project, we had fun & made the best of our mistakes!  Which were many =0)  I can not tell you how many trips we made to Lowes and still I will need to go back tomorrow!  UGG, I will be so happy & proud once this project is done!

My husbands early Fathers Day Gift a new saw~ He had to buy another one (not pictured) since we burned the older one out with all of our cutting!  I LOVE using power tools~

We started off using pine ( I hate pine) for both the treads & risers, but I do not want to paint the treads so we used the knotty pine for the risers which I will paint white(ish) and stain the treads oak!

So we have finished with all the cutting, measuring & fitting, I will start the painting & staining next week once the angels go back to school.

I need to start looking for a runner, I don't know what I want!  Any ideas?

Thank You & Many Blessings~

PS~My Giveaway is still open so enter & tell all your family & friends too!
It will close in a couple of days, so hurry don't wait~

Jute Ribbon Pretties~

Today I went to Michael's and found this really cool ribbon.  It came in many different colors but I chose these three: Brown, Gold & Cream

I came home straight away and made some little pretties for my lamps, candle stick holders etc...

The little crystals are actually Christmas ornaments, I used different colors for contrast~

I used the gold ribbon with clear crystals on my favorite thrift store lamps~

I used the cream color on my apothecary jars with some bling in the vanity area of the bathroom~

And I used the cream ribbon on my other thrift store lamp to hang the key from~

Don't you just love it~jute ribbon!  I have never heard of such a thing and I am so glad I found them, I am planning on going back to Michael's tomorrow to buy more because I am sure I will find more projects to use this ribbon on, like maybe some new lamp shades???

What would you do with this ribbon?  What color would you get?

Thank You & Many Blessings~

Stair Case Remodel STEP 1

We too hopped on this band wagon of tearing up the carpet from our stairs, whew what a job that is, I know you have seen many posts on that process but allow me to add one more!  =o)

This is the grossness we started with~YUCK!

We got it down to bare wood & we did not want the angels to get splinters (contractors used L~O~W grade wood) so my husband thought to get some rubber  to make it softer for the angels, that's the black you see.
As much as I loved the idea of using the black  rubber as treads it was kind of difficult to realize the depth of each step but my husband came up with a GREAT idea.  A few weeks ago I stopped at an estate sale where I bought these silver letters & numbers so he asked for them to add to each step~letters go down!

Numbers to go up!  It worked like a charm, the angels move up & down the stairs with their normal ease all thanks to daddy.
This is step 1 (no pun intended) stay tuned for more steps ~ha ha I did it again!

Thank You & Many Blessings~
